Found out today that I'm going to miss this race too. I just got my internet fixed too. Well, sort of. I have to fight it to get connected, but when I'm connected its perfect.

At least I have internet now. And as of right now I'll be at the race next week. Probably for the best given my reputation for flipping whenever presented with a curb.

I plan on being there, but I may not have a mic. Our 6 year old destroyed my headset...
![]() 03/25/2015 at 18:37 |

Please do, Silverstone is so goddamn boring, a roll or two might be just the thing that prevents most of us from killing ourselves.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 18:37 |
|
Actually fuck it, I'm changing the track to Suzuka. Even the thought of Silverstone makes me want to drink bleach.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 18:42 |

Should be fine, no one really uses their mic to communicate their racing intentions anymore, they just barge their way in anyways. The OEM Xbox mics are such pieces of shit I'm surprised yours lasted that long with a kid in the house.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 19:54 |
|
I can definitely get behind that. Suzuka is amazing.
![]() 03/25/2015 at 22:10 |

So............just to be clear, the time is at 4:30am EST?
![]() 03/26/2015 at 01:00 |
|
No, 3:30am Pakistan Standard Time, what's so hard to get about it, Jesus.
![]() 03/26/2015 at 04:27 |

It wasn't OEM. It was an Afterglow...
![]() 03/26/2015 at 14:18 |

sunset reverse or norm?
![]() 03/26/2015 at 14:31 |
|
Reverse, it's un-American to turn right on an oval track.
![]() 03/26/2015 at 14:48 |
|
ah yes. Of course.
![]() 03/26/2015 at 14:50 |
|
Btw, we should do a series like this but with late seventies 80's cars as well... maybe...
![]() 03/26/2015 at 15:17 |
|
Throw together some cars sometime and we can test them out after a race sometime. We still need ideas for the next series, that could be one of them.
![]() 03/26/2015 at 19:35 |
|
haha first part just for me and in capitals :D though I'm not 100% if I can make it this week
![]() 03/26/2015 at 20:44 |
|
Well at least you know what time it is if you can.
![]() 03/26/2015 at 22:56 |

I actually already thought up some ideas for cars:
Buick GNX
Camaro IROC Z
79' Camaro Z28
96' Impala SS (maybe, maybe not)
86' Dodge Shelby Omni
78' Mustang King Cobra
Foxbody Mustang Cobra R
87 Pontiac Trans Am
77' Pontiac Trans Am
If you have any other suggestions I'm open. I'd say the A550 point structure would probably give a good balance for this level of car as well. Also thought about throwing a delorean and fiero in the mix, but I'm thinking front engine rwd for everybody (I think you can do a fwd to rwd conversion on the Dodge Shelby).

Depending on how even the cars end up being we could totally do that. Obviously we don't need a list of mandatory upgrades like we have for the current series, but ideally you'd want the cars to be as close in pace as possible so that no one has advantages in certain parts of the track (hugely fast on the straights to make up for a lot of weight but slow in the corners). Even with the way we do things now some people have complained about how the BoP adjustments make the slower people really fast on the straights so it'd be a balancing act for cars that are even more dissimilar. After the race Saturday we could test them out, just put the cars in the club garage (and let me know if the garage is full, I'll take some cars out).
![]() 03/27/2015 at 15:53 |

Sounds good man! Should I adjust the cars to a performance level I think the race should be held at and then do that with all the cars first? Any suggestions for a track to test on as a baseline?
![]() 03/27/2015 at 15:54 |
|
Btw, I have tons of marklars (aka game money), so if there are any other possible car combo's you want me to test, I would be down with buying and testing those as well.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 16:16 |

Most time-efficient way is probably to test all the cars at stock PI and record lap times, take a middle-of-the-pack car and build it to a PI that makes the car lap maybe eight or ten seconds faster than stock, record that lap time, and then build all the other cars to that time. Ideally the baseline should be the initial absolute average, and it stands to reason that the 'average' (or mean, more accurately) car doesn't have an advantage in either the straights or the corners, which is the ultimate endgame for all the cars. Theoretically building all cars to that time means the slower, low-power cars that handle well will get power upgrades, and the heavier, faster cars will get handling upgrades. You're essentially cancelling out the outliers (cars that are fast in straight line and cars that are fast in the corners) and creating cars that are balanced, if that makes sense.
Mugello's where I benchmarked all the B450 and A550 cars since it's such a diverse track that tests all aspects of the cars' performance; IIRC it's a Ferrari test track in real life.
I think this late in the game's lifecycle we all have enough money to try out all kinds of cars, so save yours for yourself in case you have any other ideas. Ideally your potential series should have the cars already performance-adjusted and as even as possible so that when we do actually decide on a series after these end, all we have do to is pick one instead of essentially building the series from the ground up and sort through the headaches of making the cars fair.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 17:12 |
|
Actually don't do 8-10 seconds, that's kinda insane, probably better just to build a car to a PI and go off that lap time.

Gotchya.

I'll be working from 3:30 to 9... And I'll miss the next two weeks after this one on account of being on a cruise.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 18:11 |
|
:( You'll be back for the rounds at IMS if you wanna get some practice in between now and then. Haven't yet decided on a lap time but just getting familiar with the track might be good regardless.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 18:15 |
|
For sure. I might also take some time to test out a few of the other cars in both series. I just chose the ones I thought looked coolest without much thought.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 18:25 |
|
Would definitely be worth playing around with, my suggestion would be the '70 Camaro and Alfa if you like cars that can handle. Theoretically all the cars in both series are basically equal pace-wise so it's just up to you as far as what you're looking for in terms of driving characteristics. That being said I wouldn't use the 442 again, besides being the slowest car lap time-wise it's also by far the worst to drive just because of how fat it is.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 18:28 |
|
What's your stance on mid-season entries? I've been reading the posts for a month or two, and I'm kicking myself for not getting in on the first few races. Either way, I'm very interested in whatever series you might cook up next.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 18:31 |
|
Im making the 442 work. Its actually only a tiny bit heavier than the Wagon.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 18:31 |

Get here. Race. Do it.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 18:33 |

Our stance is that anyone who wants to join can at any time. Build a car to spec , upgrade/tune it to meet the 1:42, and you can race tomorrow.

I know what I'm building this evening. My gamertag's: aquila121, and I'm not part of any Oppo-related Forza club. I'll go over your build guidelines and rules tonight—thanks!
![]() 03/27/2015 at 18:37 |

You tune your cars though, out of the box the thing is a damn pig wallowing in the mud. Also what happened to the Mach 1? My Mustang's lonely being the only one on the grid.

I'll get a club invite sent out once I get home so be on the lookout.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 18:47 |

Its still around. I might fiddle with it a bit make it more of a straight line car since the Cougar is such a gokart.

I dunno if I'll come I got C&C tomorrow

You will be there. There is no other option.

I'm really tired
I also have to wash my car
![]() 03/27/2015 at 20:15 |

Any suggestions? I'm trying not to go before 1975 or after 1996. Also has to be Front Engined, RWD, or convertible to that configuration.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 22:22 |

I actually tested all the base cars now just finished the first spec'd out model. 87 trans am at about A580. You said 8 to 10 seconds was ridiculous... so I was 20 seconds faster than stock. Whoops... Make a space available in the club garage and I'll put it in there so you can test it out.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 22:29 |
|
Nevmind, removed one of the old cars I shared. Check it out
![]() 03/27/2015 at 23:24 |
|
Well, I thought it was ridiculous but if it's that much faster then that's fine I guess lol. We can test tomorrow after the race, I actually just got off to go make dinner.

TO race or not to race.....
![]() 03/28/2015 at 15:42 |

That is NOT the question. Get your ass in here.

I have to yet set up my xbox and change over my router things but I guess I'll come even though I haven't tested at all
![]() 03/28/2015 at 16:03 |

Nevermind. I'm in for the race now!

Def put me down for at least 1 orlove. Might have done two.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 17:36 |

You missed a pretty good race dude. There were a couple really good battles going on, especially in the first half of the race. Me, Kampf, Robo, and one other dude were within about a second of each other for like six laps and there were some pretty close finishes at the end.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 17:59 |
|
Meh, I'm over it. Mostly because I just took the Bruiser out and picked up my SHO from the shop.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 18:02 |
|
Really sorry about that dude, if you get on around 3:45 next race we try out a few different hosts and get you in here.
![]() 03/28/2015 at 19:53 |
|
it worked fine last week, the time before I was in the lobby but it somehow started the race without me and the time before that it dropped me mid race which has happened multiple times in other online racing so it appears to be a combination of everyone's internet connections and fourza itself
![]() 03/28/2015 at 19:56 |

You were in one of our GT races and it worked fine so maybe having Wrath host next week will do the trick. If you get on Friday for practice we can see if you can stay in the lobby for an extended period of time, sometimes Forza is just finicky.
